Orbitz Insurance is FRAUDULENT. Needed 10 people to join in a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
The lawyers will love this.
Each person who took the trip insurance was $129.00 per person. This insurance does nothing for the trip taker. You have to DIE inorder to collect it. My life insurance policy covers that so this is double insurance. I have a flight that I booked in January for August. We bought the insurance to cancel the trip if necessary. That is what trip insurance is for. I just tried to UPGRADE our seats from the fare we purchased to Business Class on SWISS AIR. They wanted to charge us $200.00 per person to change. This upgrade would cost us $5000.00 more than what we had booked plus $400 dollars. The fair on SWISS AIR’s site for the same flight is $1600. per person in business class.
I am willing to join in a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT over the mis-marketed insurance that we bought. I also want a FULL DISCLOSURE OF THE NO CHANGE POLICY ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THIER WEB SITE IN “BOLD” H1 TEXT prior to their LOGO showing on the page.
California has stringent rules on the sales of insurance and I’m sure there is a crafty lawer out there who will take this case on. $129.00 charged per person, not to mention the monies that they did not return because people really had to cancel.
ORBITZ has already ruined my trip and It’s 3 months away. DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM ORBITZ.COM - ITS A SCAM.

I just typed a huge message that was deleted because I didn’t add the numbers in the field that didn’t say (required). I had an issue with Orbitz where I bought the insurance but can’t get reimbursed for change costs because my situation doesn’t meet their narrow criteria, and I apparently didn’t do a good enough job following all of the links to read the fine print. Let me know if you get a class-action lawsuit. I live in Detroit area in Michigan. E-mail me if you have something going. Thanks.

Even though that last post is a year old, I just had the EXACT same thing happen to me today! Filed a BBB complaint too…

I am glad to see that other people are having the same problem. I booked flights for my husband and I to go to Germany. I booked in October 2010 and our flight is not until March 2011. Things are not looking up financially and between our jobs we cannot go. I purchased insurance with Access America to be told that my reasons are not covered and I had 10 days to cancel for a refund. U.S. Airways will not refund my trip that cost me over $1600; I would be credited over $800 per ticket but then pay another $250 per ticket to use my credit money to book a new flight.
I am extremely disappointed that Access America makes the paying customer print out their own insurance policy. What a scam. I live in New York and am trying to find an attorney that is involved with a lawsuit dealing with Orbitz and Access America.
